How do I start using the uCOACHuGolf App?

You can set up an account through our web portal or App Store. Record a video of your swing and receive a personalised improvement plan in minutes.

How can I delete my account?

In either the Android or Web App, select the dropdown arrow next to your name to go to the Account screen. Scroll to the bottom and there is a red 'delete' button, which will irreversibly delete your data. Note that this is different from canceling your subscription.

What are the different swing positions analysed?

We use the 10 'lines' system. Your swing is broken down and analysed based on 10 different points ('lines').

Line 1 - First Move (shaft parallel to the ground in backswing)
Line 2 - Mid Backswing (lead arm parallel to the ground in the backswing)
Line 3 - Top of the Backswing
Line 4 - First Move Down (lead arm parallel to the ground in the downswing)
Line 5 - Mid Swing (shaft parallel to the ground in the downswing)
Line 6 - Impact
Line 7 - Post Impact
Line 8 - Follow Through (lead arm parallel to the ground in the follow-through)

‍What is the Full Swing Analysis feedback?
You can view a complete breakdown of all your (75+) swing components, broken down within each line (e.g. Line 0 Stance Width, Line 1 Balance, Etc.). However, the best thing you can do to improve your swing is to concentrate on the 1 or 2 suggested 'Areas to Work On' that we provide you.

What is the Area to Work On feedback?
Our AI Swing Analyser will identify one or two key areas of your swing that need improvement and suggest drills to improve them. This area is essentially your lesson plan that will evolve as you upload more swings and continue to make improvements to your swing.

What is the Traffic Light feedback system?
For every element (e.g. Line 0 Shoulder Alignment) of your swing, we provide feedback using the traffic light system. An element that is coloured Red = needs work, Orange = is a slight issue, and Green - is working well. Your goal is to get as many green swing elements as you can!

What does the number mean after I upload a video?
You will receive a swing score from 0 to 100 for every swing you upload. This score reflects your ability to produce a consistent ball-striking motion. A higher score will result in more consistent ball striking. Improve your score by implementing the primary fixes identified in your improvement plan. By doing so, you can turn your reds into oranges, or even greens!

Can I use the app without a golf ball?

It's possible to record a swing without needing a golf ball. Using a soft practice ball, you can even record your swing in your backyard or garage. A crumpled up piece of paper could even be used to represent the position of a golf ball.

Why is it best to wear a cap when recording a swing?
A cap will maximise the accuracy of your AI swing analysis and your swing feedback.

How long does it take for the system to analyse a swing?
Typically, your swing will take up to 1 minutes to upload, after which time you will be able to view your swing analysis report.

Currently we support iOS devices running Version 13 or higher. For Android users, uCOACHu golf can be accessed through our web-based system - app.ucoachugolf.com.

‍You can use the suggestion box found on our website and app, or you can email us at support@ucoachugolf.com.

Why did my analysis not work?

There could be a number of reasons. We suggest you check the following and try again:
- The golfer was too close or too far away from the camera.
- The camera was moving during recording.
- The swing was not recorded from the correct camera angle.
- Poor lighting.
- Throughout the recording, the golfer's body and club were not always visible, e.g. they were out of frame or obscured by an object.

General Questions

Address position

Line 0 is the starting point - also known as the 'set-up' or 'address' position. A player may set-up, but then move or adjust various body parts before commencing the backswing. The app will capture the position of the various body parts and club just prior to your first move back.

Angle of attack

This is the angle the club is moving at the point of impact. The club may be moving down, level, or up. The recommended attack angle will vary depending on the club you are using. For example, for an iron shot, the angle of attack should be slightly down, whereas for a driver it should be slightly up.

Balance of Mass

Refers to where the majority of your weight lies.

Closed face

For a right-handed golfer, the clubface is closed when it is pointed to the left of the target line.

Club loading

Wrist-Cock, Club Loading, and Shaft Angle are three terms to describe the angle formed between the lead arm (left arm for a right-handed golfer) and the club shaft.

Impact

Line 6 is impact position - where you make contact with the ball.

Lead side

The lead side is the side of your body nearest the intended target.

Line 0

Line 1

Line 1 is the first move into the backswing. It is defined by the club shaft being horizontal to the ground.

Line 2

Line 2 is the point in the backswing where the lead arm (left arm for a right-handed golfer) is parallel to the ground.

Line 3

Line 3 is the 'top' of the backswing. Where this point occurs will vary depending on the flexibility of the player, and other factors. For many players, line 3 will not vary much from line 2.

Line 4

Line 4 is the point in the downswing where the lead arm (left-arm for a right-handed golfer) is parallel to the ground.

Line 5

Line 5 is the point in the downswing where the club shaft is parallel to the ground. It is the step just prior to impact.

Line 6

Line 6 is impact position - where you make contact with the ball.

Line 7

Line 7 is just after impact, when your hands have moved approximately 30 degrees into your follow-through.

Line 8

Line 8 is defined by the trail arm (right arm for a right-handed golfer) being parallel to the ground in your follow-through.

Line 9

Line 9 is the finish position. It may vary by type of shot and swing style, but it is the completion of your follow-through.

Low Point

The low point is the bottom of the arc through which the clubhead travels to impact the ball. For an iron swing, the low point should be 4-6 inches (10-15cm) past the point of impact.

Open Face

For a right-handed golfer, the clubface is open when it is pointed to the right of the target line.

Radius

Radius is a term used to describe the distance the club is held from the body. Loss of radius refers to when the elbows bend and the arms are not long.

Set-Up

Shaft Angle

Wrist-Cock, Club Loading, and Shaft Angle are three terms to describe the angle formed between the lead arm (left arm for a right-handed golfer) and the club shaft.

Square Face

For a right-handed or left-handed golfer, the clubface is square pen when it is pointed along the target line.

Swing Plane

Swing plane is defined by the plane in which the club shaft travels. It may be shallow or steep, and may vary during the swing.

Top Of Swing

Line 3 is the 'top' of the backswing. Where this point occurs will vary depending on the flexibility of the player, and other factors. For many players, line 3 will not vary much from line 2.

Trail Side

The trail side is your side furthest away from the intended target.

Transition Point

Line 3 is the "top" of the swing - the point at which the backswing transitions to the downswing. Where this point occurs will vary depending on the flexibility of the player, and other factors.
